Dubai Watch Week is set to host the 10th edition of the Horology Forum of 2024. This edition of the year will kick off on October 22 and will go on until October 24. Even though the hosts are called “Dubai Watch Week”, this time around they are taking this event to Hong Kong. So, if you are a watch enthusiast and collector, now would be the perfect time to book your tickets and get your passes locked in.
With the best watch collectors and enthusiasts around the world in it, this might be one of the best watch events this year. According to the DWW website, the panel will host Carson Chan, founder of WatchProfessorAcademy.com on the evolution of watchmaking in East Asia. Although there is not going to be any talk about the increasing Rolex watch prices in the secondary market or the upcoming new release of the Patek Philippe Cubitus, there will be discussions about the watchmaking industry in general.
The session by Carson Chan will be followed by the avid watch collector Mark Cho. The co-founder of The Armoury will be shedding light on the increasing interest in vintage treasures.
Besides the talks and discussions, the 10th edition of the DWW Horology Forum will also introduce a new relay workshop called The Watch Industry Starter Pack. Under this workshop, industry leaders will show how to build a watch brand of your own in less than an hour.
Tim Mosso from The 1916 Company will also be there in Hong Kong leading a crash course in the history of the watch industry. He will be going through 300 years of watchmaking history in just 40 minutes. Although that is not enough time to discuss about the history of watches, it would be definitely enough to throw some light on some of the major achievements in the watchmaking world in the last three centuries.
Ming’s founder, Ming Thein, and Ressence’s Benoît Mintiens will also be there to share their knowledge about watches.
But the most interesting part is yet to come. The Wristcheck team will also be present there to lead a masterclass about how you can paint luminous material on watch hands. And since you are in Hong Kong, you will also get to attend a class on the art of Chinese calligraphy, which will be taught by Elaine Wong.
