Dubai Family Court Suspends Registration of Marriages and Divorces

Dubai Family Court Suspends Registration of Marriages and Divorces - Coming Soon in UAE
8 April 2020

To avoid the gathering of a large number of people, Personal Status Court announced the temporary suspension of all procedures.

Such measures were taken as part of the fight against the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, which is now being carried out in UAE. Like other mass gatherings, events such as weddings can spread the infection to a large number of people and must be suspended.

The decision was announced on March 7, and from that day the processing of personal legal services is suspended. In particular, marriage contracts will not be certified and divorce certificates will not be issued. The end of the period during which the provision of such services is terminated will be announced additionally. The end date will depend on the situation with coronavirus in the country and in the world.

The authorities of Dubai and UAE as a whole are striving to take all possible measures to maintain public health in a difficult period. This includes the National Disinfection Program, during which all community members should stay at home and not hold any public events or gatherings.
