As part of the measures taken to combat the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, the Department of Economic Development in Dubai announced that all commercial activities will be closed until April 18.

This was announced in an official statement by the state body on social media. The message states that «circular on the closure of commercial activities is extended until the end of the National Disinfection Program in Dubai» which is prolonged until April 18. The program was launched on April 4 and includes a number of preventive measures to combat the virus.

It is also emphasized that «the exempted sectors will operate as usual». Only certain sectors of economic activity are allowed to work, such as medical institutions, the production and delivery of food and medicine, the indicated industries, the media sector, airports, and some others.

As a preventative measure to control the spread of the virus, community members should stay at home and work remotely whenever possible. Only employees of vital sectors of the economy are allowed to break curfews. But they must also be ready to confirm their place of work with documents when leaving the house.
