The Department of Economic Development in Ajman has already closed 36 businesses due to the fact that they violated the prescribed rules during the fight against the pandemic of the coronavirus Covid-19 in UAE.

The Department conducts regular inspections in order to identify violators in different regions. Those locations that jeopardize community safety and public health, not observing sanitation standards or continuing to work in those industries that were supposed to close according to the rules, are punished by law. Part of the violations was identified through complaints received on a direct line with the contact center of the Ajman government.

The closed places included groceries, cafes, gyms, pharmacies, hairdressers and other venues. Also, fines and warnings received 90 shops and establishments. Among the violations were noted the increase in prices for certain types of products, the lack of licenses, trade outside stores, the presence of too large groups of workers in the premises, etc.

Also during the inspections, shops selling face masks and factories producing such products were discovered. Demand for such means of protection has now risen sharply around the world, but the products were not certified and did not meet the norms and standards accepted in UAE. The locations selling and manufacturing masks were closed.
