Now, 6,180 vehicles of the fleet are available to pay electronically through the app of Abu Dhabi ITC.

According to the Integrated Transport Center — Abu Dhabi (ITC) announcement, there have been activated an online payment system that will allow passengers to make electronic payments in every single cab. The system is available via the Apple and Google Play store.

This project has already been developed for a long time, but the current pandemic made things go faster and the importance of cashless payment options was incredibly needed.

The Abu Dhabi Taxi app allows passengers to pay directly when booking a taxi or scan the QR code on the taximeter screen. Passengers should set up an account, providing some personal details and a payment method such as a credit card.

ITC also confirmed that new modes of payment will be introduced, and ePurse will be provided. Individuals using their own vehicles were confirmed that Mawaqif parking bays are still free of charge, until further notice. It is noted not to park illegally, as inspections are still taking place.
