Set to Léo Delibes’ beautiful score, Coppélia is a captivating and entertaining family ballet based on a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann. Dr. Coppélius is an eccentric toymaker who has built a life-sized doll, Coppélia, and daydreams of her coming to life. Franz, a young villager betrothed to Swanilda, is unaware that Coppélia, who sits at Dr. Coppélius’ window, is only a doll and falls in love with her, even though he is already engaged. Infatuated with the inventor’s new doll, Franz sneaks into Dr. Coppélius’ workshop and chaos ensues.
