Futuristic driverless Careem pods could be coming to Dubai’s roads

Futuristic driverless Careem pods could be coming to Dubai’s roads - Coming Soon in UAE

The Dubai ride-sharing app Careem is teaming up with a US company to launch the region’s first futuristic driverless cars for public transit.

Careem and the US start-up Next Future Transportation are now working to raise funds for the project. The target amount for their funding push was not disclosed.

Sheikh Mohammed’s plan – the Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy – means by 2030 that 25 per cent of cars on Dubai’s roads would be driverless and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is already trialling automated cars.

Careem launched in the region in 2012 and now operates in 27 cities across the Middl East and North Africa.
